Nikon FG Cut-Away

Nikon · Japan · 1982 · 135 film

The Nikon FG Cut-Away is a specialized demonstration model based on Nikon's 1982 FG 35mm SLR camera. The original FG itself was a compact, consumer-oriented model designed for ease of use, featuring automatic exposure (shutter priority AE) and a simplified interface compared to Nikon's professional F series. The Cut-Away version serves an educational purpose, having sections of its body and internal mechanisms cut away to visually reveal the internal workings of the camera's shutter, mirror, film transport, and other key components. This allows viewers to see how a typical contemporary SLR camera functioned internally. Essentially, it's a technical demonstrator, not a functional camera for photography.
