Polaroid Swinger II
Polaroid · USA · 1965–1970 (5 years) · Instant film
The Polaroid Swinger II, produced from 1965 to 1970, was a simple, budget-friendly instant camera designed to introduce young people and casual users to the convenience of instant photography. Building on Polaroid's earlier instant technology but streamlined for accessibility, it featured a basic fixed-focus lens and a simple shutter mechanism, relying on the user's judgment for distance via a series of icons (a hand, face, full figure) marked on the lens bezel. Its appeal was amplified by a targeted marketing campaign using the slogan "Say it with Swinger!" and packaging it in vibrant colors and simple graphics, making it a popular gift item and a cultural touchstone for its era. The camera used standard Polaroid 100-series peel-apart film, producing small, roughly 3.125 x 3.125 inch prints.
